Researchers are encouraged to visit the Archives Reading Room in person, if possible. If you cannot visit, you may order copies of records found in our online indexes or request a customized search. Payment must be received before we start work on your research request (we accept either checks in U.S. dollars drawn on U.S. banks or money orders; unfortunately, we are unable to accept payment by credit card). Print out the applicable search request form below and send it with your payment.

If you have searched our online indexes and have found a specific record that you would like to obtain, the Archives staff will retrieve the record and copy it for you.

 

Custom Research

(copies over the first 10 pages will be billed separately at $0.50/page)

The Archives staff will conduct customized research on an hourly basis on any records in the Archives holdings. For information on our records, see the Guide to the Collections. Customized research can also include genealogical research in the naturalization, court, and incorporation records not covered by our online indexes, as well as research in the following indexes and their underlying records:

  • Deeds, Grantor and Grantee, 1680-1907
  • Mortgagor Index, 1680-1897
  • Estate Records, 1782-1909
  • Maps, c.1766-present

Note about Vital Records: Birth, marriage and death records (with the exception of Marriage Records for the time period 1908-1935) are not available at the Westchester County Archives. These records are kept at the local level of government, i.e., by the city or town clerk. Additional information about obtaining vital records is found on Vital Records for Westchester County.
